One of the things the Allegheny County Airport Authority is most proud of in the opening of the new terminal — beyond, of course, the fact that it opened — is that the four-plus-year construction project was as safe as it was. That was by design.
The Oct. 14, 2021, groundbreaking of the terminal project was also the day the airport authority and the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration signed a partnership aimed at making sure the construction project was as safe as possible. It also brought in as supporters the Pittsburgh Regional Building Trades Council, the program and construction managers, and the other contractors and subcontractors.
