One of Pittsburgh’s most-well-known celebrities will be on hand Oct. 3 when Pittsburgh International Airport holds a gala at its nearly completed $1.7 billion landside terminal. The Allegheny County Airport Authority said late Wednesday that actor/musician Jeff Goldblum has been booked for the high-profile, invite-only event along with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Goldblum will be performing with his band the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra and the PSO.

The gala is one of the many events that are taking place at the terminal as it nears its opening. There are public trials of all the systems on Sept. 20 as well as a second date, as yet undisclosed, that was announced earlier Wednesday. There is also an Oct. 11 community open house. There has been no date set for the opening of the terminal, which will replace the one built for US Airways and opened in October 1992.
