Most of the heavy lifting has been completed, and construction crews are putting in the final pieces at the new Pittsburgh International Airport terminal before a public test run. “We have just completed the ceiling work. All of the scaffolding has been removed. All the flooring is pretty much in place,” Paul Hoback, the airport’s chief development officer, said Wednesday.

It was also announced that the new terminal is more than 90% complete, with a grand opening expected sometime in October. Sept. 20 is when the Airport Authority will put the Terminal Modernization Program through a rigorous test, using up to 2,500 members of the public who registered to participate. More than seven times that number registered, with more than 18,000 names on the list.
