The new Pittsburgh terminal opens fall 2025 after a dress rehearsal on September 20 with 2,500 volunteers testing airport systems. Funded by bonds and grants, the project created 14,300 jobs and enhances traveler convenience, accessibility, and economic growth in the region. Pittsburgh International Airport is preparing for a major milestone as it nears the grand opening of its new terminal, the largest upgrade in its history. The airport will hold a full-scale dress rehearsal with up to 2,500 volunteers on September 20, 2025, to test all new systems before the public opening later that fall.

The $1.5–$1.57 billion modernization project at Pittsburgh International Airport began in July 2021 and is now about 90% finished. As of August 3, 2025, airport officials are notifying selected volunteers for the upcoming dress rehearsal, which will simulate a busy travel day. The grand opening gala is set for October 3, 2025, with the public opening expected soon after, once final permits and federal approvals are in place.
