Help wanted: Volunteers to try out the new Pittsburgh International Airport landside terminal before it opens this fall.
The Allegheny County Airport Authority, which is building the $1.7 billion terminal to replace the circa-1992 building, is nearing the finish line. Just over 90% of all of the work is complete, with some major contractors finishing their work as of Monday and then others set to finish by the end of July.

While there’s no official opening date, the latest photos and a tour in late May showed that a significant portion of the building is complete. The airport authority and employees are going through the building and making sure everything works as expected ahead of the opening date. They’ve been doing that since the spring. And, as the authority said in May, it’s asking members of the community to help them by taking simulated journeys through the new terminal, from end to end.
