It was all gas, no brakes on Thursday as Pittsburgh International officials showcased the airport’s new parking setup — including a 3,300-space parking garage — in a media event before its new $1.7 billion terminal opens Tuesday morning. Joe Rotterdam, the airport’s director of commercial development, said that the five-floor parking garage is a “significant leap forward” from the existing garage, with more than twice as many spaces.

It also comes with key technological upgrades. Each row of the garage shows the number of available spaces, as tracked by automated ceiling-mounted cameras. A green light above a parking spot indicates that it is open, while parking spots for disabled customers have blue lights.
