Welcome to Pittsburgh’s new front door. After more than a decade of development, Pittsburgh International Airport’s $1.7 billion landside terminal is now a reality. Opened to passengers on November 18, 2025, the new terminal sits where the previous landside terminal never did: Directly connected to the airside terminal, which simplifies just about every operation of the airport from an operator, airline and traveler standpoint.

The front door concept has long been described by Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis, who arrived in 2015 to transform what had been a blah and unmemorable experience into one that is not only state-of-the-art, but also designed to evoke Pittsburgh and the rest of western Pennsylvania. “We want people to feel like they are in Pittsburgh,” Cassotis said.
