Bloomfield resident Terry Hudon remembers being impressed when he first toured Pittsburgh International Airport’s current terminal as a ticketing worker for US Airways in 1992, awed by everything from its size to its state-of-the-art train. But as Mr. Hudon passed through a live luggage demonstration in the new terminal’s expanded Transportation Security Administration checkpoint and took in the art around him Saturday, he said there was simply no comparison between the two buildings.

“This one just blows it out of the water. It’s just awe-inspiring — I can’t wait to fly out of here,” he said.
Mr. Hudon was one of more than 10,000 people who signed up to tour the new terminal Saturday — the first time the massive structure was opened to the public aside from a small test run last month.
