With the grand opening of the new terminal for the Pittsburgh International Airport expected in the fall, the airport is preparing to conduct a public trial before finalizing an opening date. It was announced Tuesday morning that the airport is seeking 3,000 to 4,000 people to take part in what it described as a “full-scale dress rehearsal” that will enact “what Day One will look and feel like.”

That event is to simulate an actual day of passenger traffic in the airport, with volunteers given instructions for roleplay, such as arriving to fly out or just landing for arrival. Some will be instructed to arrive at the departures curb, stop at ticket counters, go through the security checkpoint, and then through the signature bridge tunnel that leads to airside.
